Supported Browsers

VALT uses HTML5 for all video controls. No 3rd party software or plug-ins are required to run VALT. Virtually any modern browser should be compatible with VALT however we only test compatibility with the browsers listed below.

Desktop Browsers

Icon Browser Tested Version Compatibility Score Compatibility Notes
Chrome Latest Available 5
  • IVS recommended browser for best compatibility
  • Used for all development, quality assurance, and bug testing
Edge Latest Available 5
  • Based on Chromium
  • Expect very similar compatibility to Chrome
Firefox Latest Available 4
  • Highly compatible
  • May experience minor issues when browser-specific development changes are made
Safari Latest Available 2
  • Not recommended when viewing more than two streams
  • Viewing three or more streams will experience degraded performance due to Safari's Websocket fragmentation implementation

Mobile Browsers

Icon Browser Tested Version Compatibility Score Compatibility Notes
Chrome Latest Available 5
  • IVS recommended browser for best compatibility
  • Receives quality assurance testing for each release on iOS/iPadOS platform
Safari Latest Available 2
  • Not recommended when viewing more than two streams
  • Viewing three or more streams will experience degraded performance due to Safari's Websocket fragmentation implementation
